Shawuot - The Jewish Feast of Weeks

Es handelt sich bei Shawuot (bed. Wochen; andere Vokalisierung: Eide) um das wohl unbekannteste der drei Wallfahrtsfeste des Ersten Testaments (AT). Doch es ist ein von Gott festgelegter Zeitpunkt (nämlich 50 Tage nach Pessach) und eine Kombination aus Erntedankfest (bzw. Erstlingsgabenfest) und ein Freudenfest zum Gedenken an die Gabe der Thora (vgl. Simchat Tora ; ein Feiertag reicht dafür wohl nicht aus). In 3. Mose 23 und 5. Mose 16 wird dieses Fest und was man an diesem macht, ausdrücklich von Gott geboten. Was Gott nicht geboten hat, sich aber als Tradition entwickelt hat, ist, dass allerlei (z.T. süße) Dairy foods are consumed (cheese cake, etc.).
